A Day Full of Painting Goodness.

I painted from 10ish to 7:30ish with only an hour break for lunch. I painted a whole painting (just need to add in a few details)






Why yes... those are jolly ranchers.



Ugh. Such a long day.

Hybrid Rainbow

I'm such a dork. The title is from a Pillows song.

Anyway. On Friday when Kriss and I went out shopping there was a huge full arc rainbow in the sky. I couldn't get pictures of the full arc and the quality is bound to be crappy with my phone but here goes.






Matt visited this weekend and we had a whole lot of fun - which included:
-Friday night Wal*Mart trip
-Ordering from Highlander
-Showing Megan how happy Saikano can be
-Me driving to Christiansburg
-Working in the studio
-Eating Chinese and watching Versus with Megan
-Drinking Bawls
-Watching a good 9 episodes of Honey and Clover. Because Hagu is amazing and every moment with Hagu is a good one filled with joy and love.
-BABIES EVERYWHERE!!!
-Nearly waking up by getting something thrown with me.

Back To The Drawing (er... painting) Board

Its been a long long day. I'm having to learn how to paint all over again so... here goes.





These are from the still life that I set up.




Using just three colors and a bit of zinc white.

I'm really trying. I feel good about what Ive done so far but I just need to blend the colors better and get rid of rough edges and other things. But if I keep working I think I will be okay.

Still Life!

This is the foam head that Roommate M and I lovingly call "Delilah."

After spending a weekend freaking out everyone coming into the apartment, it was finally time to take her to the studio and use her for what I intended to use her for.



I've been working on preparing my wig for my still life. This is a very very cheap blue, wal mart wig. One of those wigs that get destroyed if you so much as look at it the wrong way.



Of course the wig in its original form was not nearly interesting enough for me. So I had to 'fix' it. An old paintbrush finally became useful again - along with some random nick-knacks from the apartment.



After a few more cuts and changes.... and lots of hair spray (which probably doesn't make a difference anyway)

Below are some shots of the "finished" product - which will undoubtedly fall apart as soon as I leave the studio.

Its kind of a strange painting. I don't know how much I will really work on it because in a way I see it as being pretty interesting without having a 'complete' look to it. But its way far from being done...

I worked on watercolors but I don't have any pictures to show.
